چکیده

Traffic profile, mainly its self-similarity properties, can have crucial impact on the network performance. In this regard, we evaluate traffic profile of Ethernet traffic. We have performed a measurement of the traffic on Ethernet network. Captured data has been analyzed from the protocol point of view, with the stress on the selfsimilarity, LRD and SRD properties. To evaluate these characteristics, properties of wavelet transform (DWT) are deployed and, based onα parameter, scaling property of traffic is estimated. We show that self-similarity is present in analyzed data and that it depends on analyzed time scale and on analyzed protocol.

Analysis of Network Traffic in Switched Ethernet Systems

A 100 Mbps Ethernet link between a college campus and the outside world was monitored with a dedicated PC and the measured data analysed for its statistical properties. Similar measurements were taken at an internal node of the network. The networks in both cases are a fullduplex switched Ethernet. Inter-event interval histograms and power spectra of the throughput aggregated for 10ms bins were...

DRAFT On the Self - Similar Nature of Ethernet Traffic ( extended

We demonstrate that Ethernet local area network (LAN) traffic is statistically self-similar, that none of the commonly used traffic models is able to capture this fractal behavior, that such behavior has serious implications for the design, control, and analysis of high-speed, cell-based (B-ISDN) networks, and that aggregating streams of such traffic typically intensifies the selfsimilarity ("b...

Modeling of Ethernet AVB Networks for Worst-Case Timing Analysis

Ethernet is currently explored as the upcoming network standard for distributed control applications in many different industries such as automotive, avionics and industrial automation. It offers higher performance and flexibility over traditional control bus systems such as CAN and ProfiBus. For distributed control applications, predictable communication timing is highly important which can be...

Traffic Classification – Packet-, Flow-, and Application-based Approaches

Traffic classification is a very important mathematical and statistical tool in communications and computer networking, which is used to find average and statistical information of the traffic passing through certain pipe or hub. The results achieved from a proper deployment of a traffic analysis method provide valuable insights, including: how busy a link is, the average end-toend delays, and ...
